| Company Introduction | Virgen de Lorea's vineyards are located on the southern slopes of the Otxaran-Zalla mountains in Enkarterri. Their history dates back to the late 17th century, when the Laiseka family produced cider and txakoli. In 1995, they began operations with 4 hectares and quickly expanded their vineyards to 20 hectares in the early 2000s, comprising 16 distinct plots. This expansion resulted in a production of 280,000 liters, a figure that continues to grow today. They produce wines primarily from the Hondarrabi Zerratia and Hondarrabi Zuri grape varieties, along with Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Chardonnay. The winery is located in the Flor neighborhood of Otxaran-Zalla. The Loreako Ama estate, situated at the foot of the winery, is one of the largest vineyards dedicated to txakoli in the Basque Country. A privileged setting in which it offers tastings, samplings and guided tours throughout the year by appointment, as it belongs to the BIZKAIKO ENOTURISMO Elkartea Association (ABEE). |
